About Prostate Supplements & Vitamins
Age-related prostate enlargement or Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate) and prostate cancer have become more commonly talked about and acknowledged in the community. BPH is caused when cells in the prostate increase in number and size leading to an enlarged prostate causing symptoms such as urinary frequency, nocturia, hesitancy and interrupted urinary flow. BPH is thought to be caused by the conversion of testosterone to dihydotestosterone (a more proliferative form) by the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. Prostate Health Supplements are designed with nutrients thought to inhibit the enzyme responsible such as Saw palmetto, Pygium, Stinging Nettle, Epilobium and Zinc. They also provide antioxidant protection.
