About MSM Powder Supplements
MSM is an organic bioavailable sulfur source and a popular dietary supplement with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Though MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is used for a wide range of reasons, it is typically used for the management of osteoarthritis and to bolster the dietary sulphur intake.
A review article published in 2017 by Nutrients highlighted the usefulness of MSM for the management of joint and muscle pain, specifically for the treatment of arthritis. Sulfur is important for the cross-linking of cartilage, which improves the strength and resilience of cartilage.
MSM is the perfect companion to glucosamine and chondroitin supplements. It adds therapeutic value to these supplements, particularly for the management of osteoarthritis. MSM is particularly indicated for those who consume low amounts of naturally occurring sulfur in their diets. High sulfur foods are garlic, onion and the cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, brussel sprouts and broccoli.
MSM has also become popular for use during detoxification programs by providing this important mineral. Sulfur containing amino acids, such as cysteine, are important for the generation of glutathioine, the body's most powerful endogenous antioxidant. Glutathione is also believed to be a storage depot for sulfur, that can be tapped into during times of high demand.
