About Vitamins for Circulation
Supporting circulation to the legs requires gentle daily exercise coupled with a quality diet and nutritional supplements. Healthy circulation not only relies on the system of pipes (blood vessels) that carry the blood, but also a strong pump (the heart). The blood must be of a good consistency, and not be overly thick (hypercoagulability). To support blood consistency, it is helpful to eat plenty of Vitamin E rich foods such as green leafy vegetables, almonds, hazelnuts and sunflower seeds. Vitamin E delivers crucial antioxidant benefits important to cellular health.
Vitamin C and bioflavonoids, such as hesperidin, rutin and quercetin, are beneficial for poor circulation. These nutrients support healthy connective tissue integrity, essential to proper blood vessel function. Without strong and pliable blood vessels, or blood vessels that balloon and lose their elasticity, blood can be poorly circulated, instead distributing more readily to other areas of the body with better blood vessel health.
