Optimum Nutrition Protein Stix are a great new protein snack option available in two size offerings, being a single 35g stick or 2 x 35g stix, totalling 70g.  The protein stix are high in protein and low in carbohydrate making them an excellent choice for those times when you want to smash a box of Tim Tams or when you notice yourself drooling over a Milkway bar whilst doing your weekly shopping.  The Optimum Nutrition Protein Stix contain only 6g of carbohydrates per 70g serve or 3g per 35g size (Milk Choc Nougat Caramel) or half that in the Dark Choc Cherry Coconut flavour.

Optimum Nutrition Protein Stix Consistency and Taste

The Protein Stix have a crispy outer chocolate coating that has a crisp slight snap to it when you first break it, followed by a Milkyway like center.  The Caramel flavour has a clear distinction between the layers with a decadent caramel layer.  All flavours taste a lot more like a confectionary bar than a high protein, low carbohydrate snack, making them even more attractive.

Optimum Nutrition Protein Stix can be used for

These amazing new protein snacks can be used by anyone wanting to have a convenient, high protein, low carbohydrate snack when out and about.  Due to the macros of the bar this product could be used by gym goers and fitness enthusiasts or even busy mums that don't have time to get a healthy snack and can feel their blood sugar (and patience) slowly dropping.  The High Protein nature of these bars help to stabilise your blood sugar levels giving you a smooth feeling of consistant energy through the day.

Sporty's Health Product Overview of Optimum Nutrition Protein Stix

PROS:

These new Protein Stix taste great and are not too heavy on your digestion.  We believe that most people will feel satisfied by the 70g serve size more so than the 35g size, however people obviously vary in regards to appetite and it is great that Optimum Nutrition have these Stix on offer in two sizes.  Flavour wise these genuinely do taste great.  We would be very surprised if these are not an instant success based soley on the fact that they taste awesome and are a legitimate high protein low carbohydrate snack.  These do diifer from most low carbohdrate snacks in that they are not dense to chew and are quite light and fluffy, like a Milkway style of consistency.

CONS:

We really do not see a lot of downside to the Optimum Nutrition Protein Stix.  The only issue is for the odd person that is sensitive to Maltitol, Sorbitol or Glycerol as they can cause loose bowel motions in some people (when consumed in excess) if they are sensitive to these sugar alcohols.  That being said almost all low carbohydrate bars contain these same products.

VERDICT:

Given all of the factors,  Optimum Nutrition are on an absolute winner with the new Protein Stix.  We give them a 4.8/5
