What's Ghost Pump all About?
Ghost Pump is grouped into the class of pre-workouts called nitric oxide enhancers. And why do you want more of this gas inside your blood vessels? Simply because it enhances the muscle pump experience. And with the inclusion of Glycerol, you can hold those shirt-tearing pumps for longer. There certainly is little else more satisfying than feeling your muscles expand and bulge while you're in the midst of a hard session. It's a nice reward.
And a deserved one. It makes you feel strong, like some kind of human machine amalgum. This is why Ghost Pump is such a cool product. With the addition of antioxidants and L-taurine to reduce markers of muscle damage and delayed onset muscle soreness, you can be sure that this pump product is a worthy investment. It's quite a simple mathematical formula. Bigger Pumps and Less DOMS Pain = More Fun. You don't need to be a mathematical genius to understand this one.
Ghost Pump Ingredients
Citrulline is perhaps one of the most well known amino acids for use as a natural performance enhancer. It's popularity has perhaps peaked since clinical trials have published results in a number of journals indicating that, compared to placebo, it is a helpful ergogenic aid. Researchers have actually concluded that supplementation with citrulline malate 2:1 at 8,000mg (8g) boosts bench press and leg press volume, as well as reducing DOMS by a whopping 40%1,2.
Of course, this percentage is an average. So some people will experience even less DOMS, while others may only feel a slight reduction. This is just how the body works. We all respond slightly differently.
Ghost Pump has gone the extra mile in nitric oxide support. Citrulline is believed to work by increasing blood arginine levels, which provides more substrate for nitric oxide synthesis. This leads to more blood flow to muscles, better muscle nourishment and waste product removal. Ghost Lifestyle have included pure citrulline—without the malate—with the bold move of adding another important nitric oxide (NO) enhacer called Arginine Nitrate.
This synergism allows blood arginine levels to be maximised, and also provides nitrates for the alternative synthesis of NO via a different enzymatic pathway. Theoretically, comparable results should be attained with 4g of pure citrulline compared to the 8g typically used in clinical trials, especially given the nutritional support of arginine and nitrate.
So this is all sounding pretty solid. Yet Ghost Lifestyle have also included Vitamin C, which has been shown to reduce cortisol levels in exercising individuals3. Cortisol is one of the glucocorticoids, and though it is actually an important stress hormone that helps us cope, too much is—to be technical—not cool. It is by nature a catabolic hormone that breaks down skeletal muscle tissue in order to increase our blood amino acid levels, amongst many other roles. So less corsitol during training means more muscle mass. The herbal medicines Astragalus is referred to in Western Herbal Medicine as adaptogenic and immune-modulator.
This means that it assists with the adaptation of the body and mind to any form of stress. That's right. Stress. And what could be more stressful to the body than lifting heavy weights like Ronnie Coleman's watching, or pounding the pavement at high speeds. Exercise is quite stressful to the body, depending of course on the intensity. Gentle exercise can actually have the opposite effect. Astragalus helps to keep the body's adaptation responses favourable, whilst supporting the immune system.
Ghost Pump covers a lot of nutritional bases with a smart formulation that focuses not just on the wonderful aesthetics of pumps, but also on your entire process of adaptation to exercise and muscle healing.
