About Vegetable Protein Powder
Vegetable protein powders are sourced entirely from plants, making them vegan-friendly and perfect for plant-based enthusiasts. Given that the health conscious tend to gravitate towards these vegetable based products, manufacturers often only use natural sweeteners, colours and flavours. This means you don't have to worry about chemical sweeteners, such as sucralose and acesulfame potassium. Vegetable protein powders are ultra clean and packed with naturally occurring amino acids, including the EAAs and BCAAs.
For decades the focus of protein powder manufacturers was whey, which is understandable given the high biological value of the product. However, milk production places a great deal of stress on cows, just as lactation does for humans, which for many creates ethical concerns. Given the substantial developments in manufacturing and processing technologies, companies are now able to offer purely plant-based powders that are comparable to the quality of whey protein.
For instance, pea protein has an excellent amino acid profile that is close to that of whey protein isolate. Pea protein contains all nine essential amino acids, including the branched chain amino acids. In addition, it contains non-essential amino acids that can be equally important during particular circumstances. The authors of a clinical trial indicated that pea protein is just a effective as whey protein in supporting recovery from resistance exercise. The findings were published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition in 2015. In fact, the pea protein supplement was 4.6% more effective that whey protein. However, this difference was deemed statistically insignificant.
Many of the vegetable proteins listed in this category are blends of different plant-based proteins. They may include rice protein, sacha inchi seed protein and even chia seed protein. Each protein has been selected for inclusion to improve the overall amino acid profile and palatability of the product. The Sporty's Health range of Vegetable Proteins are a great range of vegan-friendly products that contain natural sweeteners and flavours.
