About Bilberry Herbal Tablets & Supplement
Bilberry, or Vaccinium myrtillus, is an underrated herbal medicine that contains a special group of phytochemicals called anthocyanins. Bilberry has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-hyperlipidemic (regulates blood lipids) and hypoglycemic (lowers blood sugar) effects. This makes Bilberry useful for the management of a range of conditions, as well as a powerful health promoter. Antioxidants are natural compounds that neutralise free-radicals, reducing cellular injury and premature aging.
The standard modern diet contains limited amounts of antioxidants, not only in quantity but also diversity. Most antioxidants on a typical western diet are provided from tomato sauce and coffee! Antioxidants work more effectively when part of a family, which allows their synergistic benefits to flourish. Taking a broad range of antioxidants at smaller dosages, rather than one or two antioxidants at a higher dosage, tends to work more effectively in promoting wellness. Herbal supplements naturally contain thousands of plant chemicals, many of which are antioxidants.
Billbery was believed to have been identified and named as early as 1577 in Scandanavia. It grows well in acidic and poorly nourished soil, contrary to most plants. This blue/black berry is often prescribed medicinally for imparied night vision and to improve vascular integrity for conditions such as varicose veins and easy bruising.
