Optimum Nutrition Platinum Tri-Celle Casein ReviewDividerimage

Optimum Nutrition’s Platinum Tri-Celle Casein introduces an interesting new technology to casein protein supplements, which they call ‘MicelleXL’ and has the patent pending.

The supplement is designed to produce relaxing effects for after work-out recovery and is meant to be taken in between meals or before bed.

The technology claims to triple the size of the average casein molecule and create a particularly thick gel that slows absorption more than normal casein when digested. The theory behind the supplement proposes that the larger molecules of casein will slow the rate of digestion in the stomach and prolong the release of amino acids into the muscles and bloodstream. Sleep quality is improved by the use of theanine and lactium, an important contributor to release of growth hormones.

On-platinum-tri-celle-casein-p.jpgA closer look at the ingredients:

• MicelleXL Casein - 30g of Optimum Tri-Celle Casein are in each serve.

• L-Theanine – this compound is derived from green tea and has demonstrated calming, sedative and anti-stress properties that are quite beneficial features in a pre-sleep supplement.

• Lactium Hydrolysates –a decapeptide which comes from sources of sodium caseinate. Lactium is associated with the ability to provide relief from stress and anxiety and has the best results when consumed before bed.

• There is three times the size of normal casein molecules in each 30g serve.

• The longer absorption time means a longer supply of anabolic amino acids

• It has improved sleep ingredients.

As it is a relatively new product there is no information or studies to date about the effects of the MicelleXL and how it influences plasma and levels of muscle protein during sleep.

What about Taste?

Platinum Tri-Celle Casein mixes well with water into a rich and thick protein shake without any graininess or residue. It can also be mixed with any favourite beverage. If using milk it makes a very thick textured shake. Currently there are just three flavours to choose from, vanilla bliss, strawberry indulgence and chocolate decadence and all are easy to drink.

Optimum Nutrition can be relied upon to create quality products and are always right at the forefront when it comes to researching and testing new ideas. This latest addition to their range is quite an innovation and its performance remains to be fully tested and researched.

It has a great deal of promise and certainly offers a good quality protein. It is definitely worth a try to see if does deliver a better class of sleep and stress reduction.
