As you probably know, the 3 branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) are Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine. Much of the research to date is demonstrating the importance of sticking to this ratio, or something very close to it. This is because the BCAAs have a close relationship within the body, being oxidised by the same enzymes within muscle. So if we only load up on leucine, for instance, which activates oxidation enzymes, then our isoleucine and valine levels can drop low—too low. This is the main reason we need to keep these 3 amino acids together.
The research regarding muscle protein synthesis has not been strong for BCAAs, likely due to the fact that we need more than an mTOR trigger to initiate this process. After all, there are 8 esssential amino acids needed for muscle protein synthesis, with the 9th EAA being tryptophan. The non-essential amino acids that are found in muscle tissue are recycled with great efficiency, meaning that only 8 EAAs are required for this process—unless growth is extreme. However, research so far indicates that BCAAs taken before exercise assist in reducing delayed onst muscle soreness, perhaps by reducing markers of muscle damage, such as creatine kinase and lactase dehydrogense1,2.
There is nothing that can negatively impact performance quite as fast as dehydration. That's whey this ultimate BCAA supplement is loaded with the essentials for hydration, ensuring that your performance can keep on crankin'. In addition, citrulline is added as a formidable inducer of nitric oxide synthesis. Citrulline elevates blood arginine levels very well, allowing for this gas to improve circulation to the peripheries and improve muscle nutrient delivery and pumps. But Scivation Elite BCAAs don't stop there.
This one's also got medicinal mushrooms in it, which assist with oxygen delivery and the health of the immune system. In fact, medicinal mushrooms are some of the most powerful natural compounds yet discovered to support the health of the immune system. Add in glutamine and beta-alanine, and you've got a premium quality BCAA powder. Is it the best BCAA for women? Yes indeed. But it's also the best BCAA for men too. It doesn't gender discriminate, mainly because it's not a hormonal modulator or a mass gainer, and also because it's an all around nice product.
Scivation Xtend BCAAs have always been fantastic products, and the ELITE version only makes things better. With Ashwagandha, or Withania somnifera, your cortisol levels are also managed. This herb, also known as Indian Ginseng or Winter Cherry, is well regarded in the field of Herbal Medicine, with adaptogenic properties. This means it assist with the physical, mental and/or emotional adaptation to stress.
If you're looking to take Intra-Workout endurance, pumps and power to the next tier of achievement, make sure there's fresh tub of Scivation Xtend BCAAs ready for your perusal.

Does Xtend BCAA Have Caffeine?
No. This product does not contain caffeine or any other stimulants.
Does Xtend BCAA Give You Energy?
Most people find that BCAAs improve endurance and stamina, rather than giving them a short-term energy rush like caffeinated products do. This is likely due to the fact that BCAAs function as a muscle cell fuel source.
BCAA vs Whey
BCAAs are better used before or during exercie, while whey protein is ideal for use after exercise, between meals or to supplement low protein meals. BCAA are 3 of the essential amino acids in free form, while whey protein delivers all 9 of the essential amino acids, plus a host of non-essentials, in a complex protein structure. Therefore, whey protein needs to be digested, while BCAAs don't.
